Steve Purcell has played with, or shared the stage with acts, such as Foghat, Montgomery Gentry, Night Ranger, Carrie Underwood, Josh Turner, Skid Row, Mark Chestnut, Darryl Worley, Asia, Little Big Town, Pat Travers.
The new book “Seeing Stevie Ray” is a beautiful tribute to the early days of the bluesman’s career. We get to see through the lens & heart of the author Tracy Anne Hart’s work. What was initially an assignment, became a long time relationship with and love for Stevie’s music. We guarantee you seen her work before, you just didn’t know it.
If you are an SRV fan, this is a must have for your collection.
We sit down with Fender’s Executive VP Justin Norvell to discuss Fender then, now and what’s ahead. Fender 2020 is exciting, innovative & fresh. The bar has been raised and I’m not sure my back account can handle it! Special thanks to everyone at Fender for the opportunity.
For a big Fender fan like myself, this was a lot of fun.
If you’ve seen a movie, watched a TV show, heard a popular recording or have seen a commercial, then you’ve probably heard Andrew Synowiec. His latest record “Second Story” is a Sonic Gift to any guitarist regardless what style of music you play or listen to.
We get do into all the things in his world and it’s pretty compelling…

So I played the Fender American Ultra Strat today and I have to say, Fender has really out done themselves this time. I really didn’t think there was going to be that much of a difference between it and the 2016 Elite, but there is.
Let’s jump in:
If we were just going to talk about the electronics alone, I’m sold. I hate Noiseless Pickups, they never sound right, it usually sounds like someone has thrown a blanket over the guitar. Not this time. These are the most natural and “vintage-y” sounding noiseless pickups ive ever heard. Imagine Noiseless Fat 50’s with a bit more edge & bite.
The “S1 switch” feature is excellent, giving the player an even wider/deeper tone palette than the Elite series and for that matter any other guitar on the market right now. It adds the neck pickup in to any switch position adding more tones than any other Strat I’ve ever encountered. I would love to add this feature to all of my guitars!!
The Modern D neck profile was a great surprise, I’m usually a “C” Profile kinda guy, but the feel and the matte/vintage tint vibe was a dream to play across. The Ultra rolled fingerboard edges are excellent for playing ease, A 10”-14” compound-radius fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets are incredibly comfortable and make playing a breeze.
The tapered neck allows comfort & easy access all the way up the neck. The curved heel joint and contouring around it was seen on the Elite in 2016 so If you like to play in the higher registers of the fretboard you’ll dig this feature.
Other features include sealed locking tuning machines, chrome hardware and bone nut. Includes premium molded hardshell case.
In my opinion, the versatility of this guitar makes the Fender American Ultra Series an instrument for any genre.
Fender has done something a lot of Guitar companies can’t or won’t. Breaking Barriers & evolving without losing a sense of themselves or alienating their customer.

Ok, having said that, Wrist Grips worked for me. With all of my previous training and experience, I was really knocked out by this product. Wrist Grips are not a sponsor of Guitar Radio Show, nor are we receiving any compensation from them, but you can-
